There are those of us who love to fire lots of nails and still have the compressor recover in time for the next round of firing. This product does exactly that. With a SCFM of 3.0 @ 90 PSI, the compressor does not labour in doing this work. Your job site might already be loud enough such that you do not need a compressor to add to that noise. At 71.5 dB this fits the bill for you. It is not the quietest though as the California Air Tools CAT still outperforms it at 60dB.

Size
The DEWALT compressor weighs an incredible 36 pounds for such a powerful product. Its dimensions are 21.6 inches in length, 17.4 inches wide and 13.8 inches high, pretty small huh. You have the option of storing it in either direction: vertically or horizontally, depending on the amount of space you have and overhead clearance.
The compressor has a 2.5-gallon air storage tank.
Performance
The effectiveness of an air compressor is its ability to deliver quality compressed air. This 2.5-gallon product delivers air at an SCFM of 3.0 @90 PSI and 4.0 SCFM @40 PSI. At full power, a 200 PSI compressed air is produced to run all your air tools and equipment.
The power supply demands are standard too. A 120 volts, 60 Hz and 8 Amps power supply is needed to run its universal motor. During start up, the motor draws 12 amps which eases the process and prevents the tripping of circuit breakers.
This equipment has a power output of 1.1 horsepower at the peak of its operations, with the pump running at speeds of 2300 revolutions per minute with torque transfer through belts.
Pump Type
The design of the DeWalt is run by an oil-free pump for durability. These types of pumps are also known for their maintenance free service lives.
Noise Level
This product falls under the category of “quiet but not noiseless” compressors. The noise level is given at 71.5 Db. This is perfect for smooth and quiet indoor operations. The workers are able to converse and work at the same time.
Who It’s For
If you are the type of professional or a DIY person and needs a PSI of 200 and 3.0 SCFM @90 PSI, then it is recommended that you work with this compressor.
The workplace might require that you give instructions and hold conversations as the work progresses; this quiet little machine enables you to do exactly that.
Grinders, sanders, air ratchet and staple guns can all be run by this product.
Pros
- The handle provides comfort while transporting and storing.
- A “ball drain valve” is provided to quickly and thoroughly drain the tank when the need arises
- At 71.5Db, it is quieter than most human conversations
- The product has a warranty of 1 year.
- The oil-free pump ensures durability
- Easy to move around
Cons
- Develops some problems of building pressure past 50 PSI in rare cases
- It is not noiseless.
Final Verdict
When you consider the noise levels, the DeWalt is much quieter than the Bostitch CPACK2A-R (72 Db). It produces more pressure but with a lower capacity tank size. This product may not be the quietest around or the most noiseless, but it compensates for this by its immense power and pressure. A decent compressor indeed it is.
